Bail was allowed in £IOOO. AUSTRALIAN FRUIT COMMISSION. Melbourne, March 8. The Federal Parliament will appoint a commission to report on the fruit industry. Evidence regarding the' export trade will be taken throughout Australia, also on the condition of the European markets. DISASTROUS FIRE IN BRISBANE. Brisbane, March 8. One of the most disastrous fires in the history of the city occurred late last night, in the Fitzroy Chambers, a sixstorey building in Adelaide street, in the heart of the city,-being gutted. The fire .' spread to .a tailor's adjoining, _ and is still burning. Early this morning the fire was under control. THE AUSTRALIAN BATTLESHIPS. Melbourne, March 8.
