The Government intends to introduce an amendment to the Early Closing Act next week, providing for closing at nine instead of ten on Friday .nights. Chemists will be placed in the schedule with other shops and tobacconists. Country districts will be given the opportunity of voting in favor of Wednesday instead of Saturday half-holiday in Sydney. | REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT. j Perth, March 7. A notice in 'the paper of the Australian Natives Association' contains a resolution from Kalgoorlie in favor of a Republican form of Government. ASIATIC LABOR. Perth, March 7. The Government has approved' of the regulation requiring that furniture made or partly made by Asiatics be branded with the words "Asiatic labor" in a prominent place. MIXED BATHING. Melbourne, March 7. ! Mr. Fisher, referring to the Method- ! ist Conference's motion against mixed | bathing, declared that a dose of cold 4 water was not conducive to moral lapses.
