FIGHTING IN TRIPOLI
TURKS AND ARABS REPULSED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Rome, March 5. Fierce fighting occurred at Derna, frequently at close quarters, all day Sunday. The Italians made repeated bayonet charges, repelling the Turks and Arabs, the latter's attempted flanking movement being frustrated by timely reinforcement. The Italian casualties were 150, but the Turkish loss is unknown. TORPEDOER AT WORK. Perim, March 5. An Italian torpedoer bombarded Sheik Said's forts. CLOSING THE DARDANELLES. Received 7, 12.10 a.m. Constantinople, March 6. The Porte has notified the Powers that the Dardanelles will be closed at night time. HEAVY CASUALTIES. Received 7, 12.10 a.m. Rome, March 6. Eight officers have been killed and thirteen wounded. At Derna 52 men were killed, 29 severely and 135 slightly wounded. The Eritrean battalion, after a six Rours' engagement, repelled the Arabs near Birel. The Arabs lost 100 killed. The battalion lost nine killed and 28 •'ightly wounded.
