Henry Edward Dennetts alias Harry Davis, allias Thomas Tobbling, an escapee from Taihape gaol, where lie was awaiting trial on a charge of assault and robbery, alleged to have been committed at Opotiki, was arrested by Sergeant Hutton and Detective Mitchell on the s.s. Victoria on Saturday. He was brought before Magistrate Burton and remanded to appear at Taihape on Wednesday^ THE SOUTHERLY. Christchurch, Last Night. The weather, which has been 'fine for some time and allowed harvesting to be proceeded with, changed to the south to-day, and after midday driving rain from that quarter set in, and has every appearance of lasting for a day or two.
