AUCKLAND AMATEUR CARNIVAL. DORMER'S FINE FORM. ADLAM WINS BOTH CYCLE RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its annual carnival on Saturday before a fair crowd. A few showers of rain fell, but not sufficient to materially affect the track, which was in good order. The best race of the day was the half mile handicap, won by A. W. Dormer from scratch. His time, lmin 58 l-ssec, is equal to Hector Burk's New Zealand record. As he was suffering from influenza, contracted at the New Zealand championships, Invercargill, Dormer did not start in any other race. G. N. Hill did not start for a similar reason. L. J. Mark won both the 100 yards and 440 yards championships, of Auckland, the former in 10 2;ssec. and the latter in 52 l-ssec. A feature of the sports consisted of the cycle handicaps, one and two miles. J. Adlam, New Plymouth, won both with brilliant riding. The Auckland Amateur Athletic Club | has decided to urge that A. W. Dormer be sent to the Olympic Games.
