WAREA SPORTS. By Telegraph—Own correspondent. | The eighth annual sports were held ia the Recreation Grounds on Wednesday. There was fine weather in the morning, i but a light ram came on in the afternoon. A fairly large crowd was present. The fields in the running events were far letter than last year. The chopping even"•».. were about the same as last year. T l, gate takings amounted to £l2 ss, beir ' £1 15s better than last year. A protest was entered over the Maiden Chop'/'and' was held over. IT. Ngaia protested against H. Corkill for running inside a peg, the protest being upheld. S. Julian protested against IT. Ngaia for having no registration. This, too, was upheld The sheep guessing competition was a good paying event, 116 one shilling tickets being sold. It was won by Mr. C. W. Revell, who guessed 61 ] 4lbs, the correct weight being 6iy 2 lbs. A grand social was held in the hall in the evening. Results:— Novice Chop.—R. Cassie 1, W. Foster 2, J. Muir 3. Boys' Sack Race.—H. Corkin 2, W. Foster 3. Won easily. A protest was entered by Corkin against Magon, but it was held over.'
