♦ AMICABLE SETTLEMENT DESIRED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Brisbane, February 29. A delegate, of the Sydney Wharf Laborers' Union, addressing a meeting, declared that he was sent to try to arra;;?e an amicable settlement. The water.-: :<le workers were prepared to open all the ports in Australia if the employers would not victimise the strikers. The tramvays night service has been resumed. The police have taken particular precautions against the molestation of employees. WORKING A STEAMER'S CARGO. Received 29, 10 p.m. Sydney, February 29. The wharf laborers decided to work the steamer Wollowra on the strength of the assurance that the Queensland cargo was handled by unionists. WORK PROCEEDING STEADILY. Brisbane, February 29. Work on the wharves is proceeding steadily with non-unionists. Mr. Coyne announced that he was unable to make any statement in regard to the negotiations with the" Employers' Federation before to-morrow. '
