FATAL FALL FROM STRAW STACK, By Telegraph—Press Association. 1 Masterton, Thursday. 1 A farm hand named Thomas S. Can* pion, aged 45, died this morning as the result of injuries received in falling off a straw stack at Te Ore Ore yesterday. His neck was dislocated. ✓ SUICIDE WHILST TEMPORARILY INSANE. • .„ Chrißtchurcli, Last Night. '' At the inquest on Arthur Hill Fletcher, who was found last night dead, having been shot through the heart, the evidence went to show that deceased wa> worried aboftt his wife, from whom Me was' separated by a decree nisi last November, and that he also suffered -from insomnia, due to a birth mark on his head. So far as witnesses: knew, deceased was not troubled financially. ""A, verdict was returned that deceased comf mitted suicide while temporarily insane. KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRAM,,. Wellington, Lagt Night. A man apparently about 40 year* ef age was knocked down by a tram cat in Willis street to-night, and suffered a fractured' skull and Concussion of the brain. He was taken to the hospital, where he lies in a very critical condition. iW authorities so far have been unable to identify the unfortunate man. TWO DROWNING FATALITIES.Gisborne, Last Night. The police have received word that a man named John Gavin was drowned in the Nuhaka river on Friday and that his ' body was recovered to-day. About midday to-day another body of an unknown man was found in the Wairoa rivar.
