PETROLEUM NEWS.

FURTHER ACTIVITY AT NO. 5. No. 5 bore attracted a great many visitors yesterday. The steady flow of oil continued until about 1 p.m., when the gas. became so powerful that the packing was forced out of place on the top of the 4in. casing, and the bore gave vent and made 'things merry for a while, saturating the derrick with oil. The staff, however, got her quickly connected with the tank, and again she flowed on steadily, and up to a late hour last night continued to flow without any abatement.
