WILDING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 28, 12.30 a.m. Paris, February 27. Wilding is scratched for the Mentone tournament, owing to inflamed hands, the result of playing Decugis at Monte Carlo.

NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The quarterly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held this evening. The statement of receipts and expenditure from October 1, 1911, to January 24, 1912, showed cash on deposit £6O, and cash at bank £lO4 18s.

Mr. G. A. Hurley, Wellington delegate, moved that the New Zealand championships should, as far as possible, be held only in the four principal cities alternately in the North and South Islands. The mover stated that his ultimate goal in bringing the matter forward was to have one place in the Dominion made a home or Mecca for tenni3. He did not care where the eentres were.

Mr. A. L. Berry (Otago) seconded. Mr. H. Brown (Canterbury) moved as an amendment an addition, that in the event of the championships being played m another centre than Wellington the conduct of the meeting be delegated to the local association.

The amendment was seconded by Mr C White Parsons (Canterbury), but the chairman ruled that it was not admisßable.

I Much discussion ensued on the ruling, 1 and a motion that the meeting disagree with the ruling was lost. I Mr. Hurley moved that the meeting bo adjourned for five weeks, and that a special meeting of the council be held at some tune to consider Mr. Brown's resolution. This was carried. A' motion that the North Island and South Island singles championship for ladies and gentlemen be established at a cost not exceeding 20 guineas, was held over till the adjourned meeting. An application by Hawke's Bay Association for the 1912 meeting was held over.
