SPOTSWOOD SETTLEMENT.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —"Worker," writing in your issue of 27th inst., wishes to draw the attention of the Land Board to the dairy farm, occupying the Spotswood Settlement at the present time. Surely he is making some mistake when he did not object to the grazing of the land with horses owned by a New Plymouth livery stable keeper, who, I understand, has the most land leased in the Spotswood Settlement, The dairy farms hold the smallest areas, and the occupiers are working men who run a few cows to help pay the rent,' which is too much for the class of land for the working man to occupy, unless he has the revenue from a few cows coming in. If "Worker" would draw the attention of the- Land Board to take all land not running cows in the settlement, and ■ divide that portion grazing town horses amongst the bona-fide workers, and allow them every chance to make a living and a home, it certainly will do more good to the majority on this land than the present system of grazing cab horses. —I am, etc., SPOT.
