TERRITORIALS FINED. By Telegraph—Press AssoeiatioM. Hawera, Monday. The first prosecution in this district under the new Defence Act took place to-day, when four defendants were each fined 5s for having, failed to attend the required parades. Two other defendants who objected to the case because of their having done volunteering service, were convicted. The charge against a young man for having refused to take the oath of allegiance, was adjourned for one week, defendant promising to do so to-night.
