WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS

PERMANENT BOARD APPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a special meeting to-night the City Council decided, in view of the proposed reorganisation of the tramway service, that no appointment of traffic superintendent be made from the present applicants. A permanent tramways board was set up, comprising' Mr. W. H. Morton (city engineer), Mr. Stuart Richard /son (electrical engineer), and the traffic superintendent. Mr. Morton will be chairman of the board, which will manage the tramways on policy lines laid, down by the Council. This will relieve the Council, and particularly the Tramways Committee, of a great amount of detail work. Mr. M. Cable, assistant electrical enI gineer and assistant manager of tramways, was appointed acting traffic superi intendent at £550 a year.
