AUSTRALIAN TEAM. Sydney, February 26. Hazlitt, Gregory and McLaren have accepted for the English team. Barbour will probably be chosen for the fifteenth man. It is expected that Gregory will be captain. Warner, in a speech, said he preferred not to express an opinion on the merits of the quarrel, but gave an assurance that the team chosen would have a hearty welcome in England. The following fourteen players have been asked to go to England for the triangular cricket tournament:—Bardsley, Carkeek, Macartney, Webster, Emery, Jennings, Kelleway, Matthews, Mayne, Gregory, , Whitty, Hazlitt, McLaren and Minnett. Dr. Hordern was invited, but is unable to go. If all accept the invitation, there will only remain one place to fill. MACARTNEY ACCEPTS. Itweived 26, 9.15 p.m. Sydney, February 26. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. One of the closest finishes seen in representative cricket for a long time was that between Auckland and Wellington to-day. Wellington, by Blacklock's aid, brought the score to 192 for the second innings, giving Auckland 172 to make to win. When the ninth wicket fell they were still 33 short of this score. Southland, resulted in a draw, after a somwhat uninteresting game. Owing to the delay . caused by the bad weather the teams . had only one innings each. Otago made , 152 (Hopkins 37, Higgins 23, Siedberg 22), and Southland made 135 (Hamilton • 81, Hiddleston 22). The latter team batted with ten men. For Southland, Rutherford took five wickets for 33, and Crockett three for 26. For Otago, Bannermann took three wickets for 37, and Torrance three for 43.
