At the athletic meeting held to-day under the auspices -of the Canterbury centre of the, N.Z.A.A.A., the one mil* Bat handicap was won by .N,. •V. Hill (scr), in 4inhr 25 3-ssec, and,the 100 yards handicap by R. Qpie (scr), in lOsec, a very close finish. J. McHolm won the hammeT throwing competition. His throw was. 135 ft B&in, I beating the Australian record frorat a ' seven feet circle, of 132 ft 2in.
