FURTHER EVIDENCE. By CaWe— Pres* A«oci*ti«n—Copyright. Sydney, February 23. A witness gave evidence that the Colonial and ilaliquin Companies always raised and lowered prices simultaneously. A number of wholesale merchants declared that they dealt largely in the Colonial Company's sugar, and the profit \vas practically nil. The sugar duty was generally condemned. In contradiction of a witness, the chairman declared that the evidence from North Queensland stated that the country was suitable for nothing bat sugar. Rice, cotton and dairying had been tried, and failed.
