WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry.—At the mart on Saturday our pens were taxed to their utmost with birds of all classes. Prices were about the same-as, the previous week's rates, good young birds still being keenly sought after. Hens (old) Is 4d to Is 9d, good young Is 8d to 2s 9d, pullets (young) Is 3d to Is Bd, forward 2s to 4s, cockerels (small) Is 2d to Is 6d, good fat Is 8d to 2s Cd, chicks 4d to Is, ducks Is lid to 2s 3d, drakes Is lOd to 2s, canaries 15s pair. The usual line of auction sundries and furniture realised satisfactory prices. Furniture—On Wednesday, 13th inst.. on account of Mrs. W. J. Shaw, at her residence, in John street, we held a clearing sale of all her household funiiiure. There was a large attendance of the public, and the furniture, being of good quality, realised satisfactory prices. Fruit.—We have had a record week in this department as regards quantity, close on 2000 boxes of all classes of fruit have come forward and been disposed of during the week. Plums and peaches have caused a glut, the market being quite overdone, and low prices for them ruled in consequence. Good fruit of all kinds still .commands good prices. I WOOL, SKINS, AND HIDES. Messrs. L. A. Nolan and Co. report:' —We held our usual monthly sale of the I above on Tuesday, 10th inst., and submitted our usual catalogue to a full complement of buyers. Hides were particularly keenly competed-for, and sold at a sharp advance of about %d to %d per lb. Sheepskins sold well at prices dependent on condition of pelts and amount of wool. We offered a few specially good full-woolled skins, these realising up to 10s 6d each.. Wool did not realise prices equal to those at last s month's sale. In coarser 6orts we ad-* vise a drop of from %d to %d per lb., in ' finer sorts prices were about the same as last; month. Tallow sold at about last) month's rates. We quote:— Hides.—Butchers' ox: No stout or good heavy offering. Heavy ordinary 7%d, medium 7y 8 d to 7%d, light 6%d to 7d; cow, heavy «%d to 7y 4 d, medium ' 6V 2 d to 7d, light ,6%d to G3/ 4 d, heavy cut 6%d, slippy 5%d.
