PETROLEUM NEWS.

I)RILLING PLANT TO BE ERECTED. Additional filip should be given to the oil industry in Taranaki by the fact that Messrs. Herman 1 and Weger, proprietors of the New Zealand combination rotary drilling plant, definitely intend starting works at New Plymouth. The plant will take the shape of an oil plant and tool making establishment, and also a supply store. The firm will supply all classes of oil well and drilling requisites, so that companies wishing to obtain -tools, plant, casing and the like, can have their requirements supplied at a moment's notice. In the opinion of one of the principals of the firm (Mr. Weger), "many people from other parts are going to do battle right here, boring holes into the earth." He trusts that his firm will be in the thick of it, as they believe there is a big future before the New Plymouth oil works. Mr. Weger, who is at present in New Plymouth, -visited the present bores yesterday morjning, and also inspected some oil lands which an Auckland syndicate is interested in and on which operations will, in. his opinion, no doubt soon be started. He visited the property at the instance of the syndicate, and he is more than pleased with it.
