RICH FIND OF GOLD. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, February 20. A prospector at Hargreaves unearthed twelve pounds of stone containing seven pounds of gold. NEW SOUTH WALES' VITAL STATISTICS. Sydney, February 20. The population of New South Wales on December 31 was 1,693,391, an increase for the year of 55,383, the highest recorded in the history of the State. Marriages numbered 15,275, a record; while the birth-rate was the highest since 1896. The death-rate, though not the lowest on accord, has been less on only four occasions during the last seven years. Deaths from cancer totalled 1235, or equal to .74 per 1000, showing a steady increase. ADVERTISINa AUSTRALIA. London, February 19.
