JBy Cable—Press Association—Copyrigkt, Christclmrch, Last Night. The directors of the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company have declared a dividend of three per cent, on ordinary and preference shares for the half-year ending January 31. which will be payable on March 2.

AN OVERDUE DREDGE.

Christchurch, Last Night. The secretary of the Lyttelton Sartor Board haß telegraphed to the Harbor Trust at Fremantle, asking that he should be advised by telegraph of the arrival at that port of the Lyttelton Harbor Board's new. dredge, "Canter* bury." The. dredge left Port Said on December 21, and no news has been received of her since. In ordinary circumstances the dredge ought to have reached Premantle by this, anil newe of her arrival there may come to hand at any time. ' \ ■'.

DANNEVTRKE RAM PAIR,

Dannevirke, Last Night. The Dannevirke ram fair was held today, about MOO rams being offered. There was. good demand for first-class Lincolns, "|aH fair inquiry for Roinneya. A stud Lincoln ram, bred by H. Gaisford, i realised 20 guineas, the top price of the sale. Flock Romneys realised up to 7$ guineas, lincolns 7 guineas, Southdowns, 5 guineas.

A THIEF CAUGHT.

Timaru, Last Night. At the Supreme Court last week a ' man was sentenced for housebreaking and theft near Timaru. Two men were concerned in the offence, but the second had not been found. He was, however, arrested at Christchurch on Saturdayj and, appearing before the Magistrate's ■ Court here to-day, pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence. After that offence he separated from the other man, obtained work on a station near Waimate, and within a week left, taking £l6 belonging to a fellow employee. He pleaded guilty to both charges, and was ■ committed for sentence. '

IMPROVING TIMARU'S WATERFRONT.

Timaru, Last Night. The Caroline Bay Association this afternoon formally opened a "marine parade," an excellent promenade formed by smoothing and fencing the top ofthe north mole of the harbor. The association has other important work in hand for increasing the conveniences and attractiveness of the seaside resort.

SUPPLYING MAORI WITH LIQUOR Rotorua, Last W. J. O'Dowd was to-day fined £5 for' supplying a Maori with liquor for consumption away from a publican's booth at the races yesterday.
