EMPIRE PICTURES.
Last night the brilliant record of the Taranaki Gup race meeting delighted a large audience. The perfection of detail and projection was very marked, and the method of snatching the many entrancing items was very fine and superior to the majority of race pictures showing classic turf events elsewhere. The first of the series gave a glimpse of the "birdcage"—a remarkably clear glimpse, too, and then the great happy crowd passed in excellent review, enabling spectators to speculate as to their friends. The Cup race wai| of supreme excellence, for the spectator saw Very clearly the lay of the field in the first time round the magnificent efforts of the horses to gain a place, and could distinguish the game mare Lady Menschikoff forging ahead from the ruck. A nice glimpse of the officials and jockeys is caught, and a remarkable one of a well-known local char acter, to whom an unlighted bike is anathema, the general public also starting It is worthy of note that the already famous seaside record has been shown at Waitera, Stratford, Inglewood, Wtham Manaia and is to be shown at mea, Kaponga, and Hawera. It is also to go to Wellington. It has created a deal of enthusiasm wherever sent. Supporting the local race picture is a series of remarkably effective films covering every phase of activity, story, and scenery, and the whole is received with the enthusiasm such a well chosen programme merits.
