TARATA. . j (From a. Correspondent.)Th<j fifth general meeting of the Tarawa Dog Trial .Club,; was: held in tie Tairata Hall on the 10th<inst., a fair number of members being present. Mr. T. E. Vile.,occupied-the chair. The secretary read the balance-sheet, which showed a profit on. the year's working of £llß 0s sd, making a total credit balance of £3l 1b 9d. The chairman, in moving , the adoption - of the balance-sheet, congratulated the club on its healthy state, and said that praise.was due to the committee for the way in which they had worked last year. They had increased the prize money and also increased their membership considerably. The balance-sheet as read was adopted, a vote of thanks being passed to the auditor, Mr. J. S. Wilson. After some discussion, it was decided to hold a two days' trial; as one day was insufficient to get through the present programme. It was recommended to the incoming committee that they should add another event to the programme. The election of patron, president and vice-presidents was left to the committee. The following committee was appointed, with power to add three: —Messrs P. J. Webb, T. R. Vile, H. Waite, L. Street, H. Lambert, J. Waite, S. George, F. Lambert and «T. Smith. Mrs. L. Street was elected secretary and Mr. T. R. Vile chairman of the committee.
With the .generous support the club receives from the public, the coming meeting should prove successful. The dogs in this district have considerably improved since the club was formed, and several puppies have lately been imported from south.
