Proposals were afoot for a syndicate of American capitalists to establish casinos, race tracks and gambling halls at Hamilton, Bermuda, transforming the island into a veritable Monte Carlo, but they were summarily rejected by the orders of the Governor, Sir Walker Kitchener. iAi member of the Bermuda Parliament declared the residents have an oldfashioned prejudice against suicides.
