RIOTS IN GLASGOW. MANCHESTER MEN STRIKE. GENERAL TRANSPORT STRIKE THREATENED. By Cable—Press Association-—Copyright. Received 11, 5.15 p.m. London, February 10. < Further riots are taking place in Glasgow. Meanwhile, the sub-committees of both sides, under Sir G. R. Askwith's presidency, have arranged a basis of settlement. The Manchester men struck on the non-unionist question, and a mass meeting threatened a general strike of transport workers in sympathy. Received 12, 12.30 a.m. London, February 11. A mass meeting of the Glasgow dockers accepted the settlement. It differs little from that previously rejected, and the right to employ non-unionists is unimpaired. THE NORTHUMBERLAND MINERS. London, February 9. The executive of the Northumberland miners state there is only a gloomy prospect of avoiding a strike. NEWSPAPER MACHINISTS' STRIKE. Received 12, 12.30 a.m. Sydney, February 11. The Sunday Times' machinists struck midnight for better wages and con'ons. Only a few copies of the paper ;; re printed.
