RESCUING MINERS.
TERRIBLE DISASTER PREVENTED. FRANTIC RESCUE WORK. '•••• Cable—Press Association—Copyright, j San Francisco, February 8. Word has been received through an air-pipe of the safety of sixty-two miners entombed at Bunker Hill mine. Large gangs of men are working frantically to release them. The victims took refuge in the tunnel. It is believed they are safe for the time. The accident was due tb the breaking of the cable in the main shaft, causing a heavilyladen skip filled with rocks to crash downward, wrecking the shaft timbers and dislodging rocks. A single air-pipe remained open, and alone prevented a terrible disaster. ENTOMBED MINERS SAFE. Received 10, 1.30 a.m. New York, February 9. The entombed miners at Bunker Hill have been rescued unhurt through the mainshaft.
