CONGREGATIONAL UNION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., Wednesday. The twenty-ninth annual conference of the Congregational Union of New Zealand commenced here to-day, the Rev. A. E. Hunt, of Timaru, .the retiring chairman, presiding over the initial proceedings. The Rev. K. Mitchell. Te Kuiti, was elected chairman. About fifty ministers and delegates are already in attendance, and more are to arrive to-day.

JOINING THE ODDFELLOWS. Wellington. Wednesday. The Governor has signified his intention ' of joining the Royal Kilbirnie Lodge of Oddfellows, Manchester Unitv. The ceremony will take place at the Town Hall on the 20th inst. Representatives of the Order from all parts of the Dominion have been invited to attend.
