I PALMERSTON SESSIONS. I By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston'N./Last Night. The Supreme Court was opened to-day, only four criminal cases being Bet down. James Fitzgerald, on a charge of assault , and robbery at Shannon, was found guilty and given twelve months' probation on condition that he 1 4id not touch liquor or visit hotels for twelve months. WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Chapman, a young man,' named Geo. Alfred Tracey, who had pleaded guilty of theft, was ordered to' come up for sentence when called upon, but would /have to make compensation- ■ for property stolen, and pay £5 towards the cost of the prosecution. Frederick William Green, formerly manager and secretary of the Wellington, • ' Working Men's Club, pleaded iio| guilty to the theft of £173 Ifls !)d from the , funds of the institution. The Supreme Court, opened before, the Chief Justice this morning. The criminal " calendar is light, there being only four > charges of a minor character. His' Honor congratulated the district on the comparative immunity from crime) A true bill was returned against Patrick MoCM- / ferty for, assault and causing actual bodily harm. Accused, 1 who was a cabman, .was found guilty of,an assault, which consisted_ of kicking another Jcabman and breaking his jaw. ' •
