Mr. Lloyd George, in a speech at the City Liberal Club/ denied that there was a split in thle Cabinet, and refuted Mr. Bonar Law's accusations regarding the overcrowding of the civil service. He declared that the lowness of Consols was due to .the South African war, the Irish Land Act, and the widening area of trustee investments, for which a Unionist. Government was responsible. The country was tetter prepared for an emergency than ever before. They would never be able to arrest the growth of armaments until international envies, jealousies and fears were removed.
