WOOL SALES. By CWie—Pre«i, Association—Copyright. London, February 2. At the wool sales fine wool was well competed for at average rates. Faulties are weak; there were considerable withdrawals. LONDON MARKETS. London, February 2. Iron, 49s 3d. Spelter, £26. Sugar.—German 15s, first marks 17s 9d. Bradford Wool. Prices unchanged, with an easier tendency. At the London sales the Tamaia clip brought top price 9d, average 8y 2 d. The Rimuroa top price was Is, average 10y 2 d. At the sheepskin sales 7800 bales were offered and practically all sold. Coarse crossbreds were %d dearer, all other sorts unchanged. Wheat. —The markets are quiet. Argentine shippers offering more freely. An Australian cargo sold at 37s 3d, and the same figure was asked for a New South Wales steamer January shipment, and South Australian and Victorian- sailer January; 36s to 36s 3d was paid for parcels of a January-February shipment. There was fair demand for Australian spot at 38s 9d. New Zealand long berry 37s 9d, short berry 37s 3d. Flour. —Dull and unchanged. i Oats.—Firm, sellers asking 23s 6d for Gartons, April-May shipment, which is two shillings above "the buyers' ideas. La Plata January-February 16s 9d. Peas.—Large supply. Naples 38s to 40s. Beans.—Firm but scarce. New Zealand 37s to 38s. Butter. Steady and fair demand. j Prices unchanged, although this week's ! arrivals of colonial exceed 100,000 boxes. Buyers are still backward. The quality of many Australian lots is affected by the heat. Cheese.—Quiet. New Zealand 71s tc 735. Copper.—Supplies 47,8951b, deliveries 48,8081b, stock 65,5701b, afloat 76001b. Tm.-Stocksl7,2'lßlb, spot 17,0011b, afloat 41641b, deliveries 30961b. Tallow.—Stock 5848 casks, imports 4027 casks, deliveries 2849 casks. SHEEPSKINS AND WOOL. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Company have received the following cablegram from their London house un; der date Ist inst:—Sheepskins: Coarse crossbred sheepskins are %d dearer; others are generally the same as last. Dalgety & Co. have, received the following cablegram from- their London house, dated February T:~ Frozen Meat.—Position is unchanged since our last sales. Sheepskins.—Sales continue firm. As compared with closing rates of last series, coarse crossbred combing skins are y 4 d higher. Other descriptions: Prices are unchanged. Dalgety & Co., Wellington, have received trre following cablegram from their London office, dated January 31:— Sheepskin sales opened with fair attendance of buyers. Prices are par to y 4 d per lb lower for all descriptions of skins. Wool Sales. Prices continue fairly I well maintained, without further quotable change.
MARKET RBPORT. Mr. R. W. D. Robertson, representing Andrew Clement and Sons, London, has received the following cable:— Butter—Finest New Zealand, salted, 1325; unsalted, 1335. Market steady. Cheese—Finest New Zealand, white, 725; colored 725, Market slow. Andrew Clement and Sons reported from London on December 29, 1911: ■General.—There has been ■»■ good demand generally during the week, and box butters have had a firmer tendency. Danish official quotation was reduced 3 kroner, but actual sales are made at previous rates. Australian—We have to report arrivals aggregating 49,583s boxes—Anchise 971, Otway 44.300, Demosthenes 4300. Corresponding week last year was 53,000 by the Orsova. Victorian, finest salted and unsalted, 120s to 128s; New South Wales, finest salted and unsalted, 120s to 128s; Queensland, finest salted and unsalted, 124s to 1265. New Zealand—The Turakina, with 45,200 boxes, is not expected to dock before Monday night, and butters should be available by Wednesday. For the same week last year 35.803' boxes came to hand. Finest 128s to 130s, extra 131s. Argentine—The arivals expected this week are the Highland Warrior at London, with 2950 packages, and the Asturias, at Southampton, with 2300, a total of 5250, against 7313 last year. Value, salted and unsalted. 1245, 1265, up to 1275. Siberian—Arrivals, 040 casks, against 1703 last year. Value, finest 124s to 120s. Imports into the United Kingdom for 51 weeks to December 23—1909, 3,992 - 338cwt. 1910, 4,222,137cwt,; 1911, 4,240,334cwt. Cheese—A good demand all round, prices generally advancing. Finest white and colored 72s to 735.
