THE EMPIRE THEATRE. P'':'.h at the afternoon and evening Si -..ins at the Empire Theatre on Saturday there were splendid attendances, and the people showed every indication of delight. The magnificent picture depicting a great, battle was received with the greatest enthusiasm, as also were the pictures showing local activities ou the beaches and elsewhere. A telling picture story is "The Tenderfoot Messenger," detailing with great force, and circumstance the adventures of a "new chum" but West, and winding up to the satisfaction of aU concerned. "Love and War" is a beautifully produced drama, in which are interwoven episodes of peace and passion, life, death and ambition. The Edison drama, "How a Hungry Man' was Fed," is irresistibly comic, and is one of those excellent "fakes" which are so wonderful a feature of up-to-date cinematography. "Fur in the Bear-pit" highly amused the children and their parents. A magnificent drama is "When the Sun Went Down," one of those fine Western American .picture stories that have attained wonderful popularity mainly because the actors are "really truly" Westerners can undertake their duties as to the manner born. A Foolshead comic, some splendid scenics, and some nice educational subjects complete a programme of varied interest and entertainment.
