AUCKLAND SESSIONS., By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, Yesterday. In the Supreme Court to-day, Mr. Justice Edwards sentenced William Brown, for causing actual bodily harm at Gisborne, to six months' hard labor. Henry Westwood Brown, alias McCormack, for obtaining money by false pretences, was sentenced to one year on each of three charges, the sentences to be concurrent. James Charles Graham, a youth with aliases, for breaking and entering at New Plymouth, ' was sentenced to eighteen months' hard labor. Alexander McLeod, alias Smith, for forgery and uttering at Gisborne," was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and'declared an habitual criminal. James McLaren, for theft from a dwelling at Waitara, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on each of two charges, the sentences to be. concurtent, and was declared an habitual criminal. William Wolley, alias Robinson, was l sentenced to eighteen months' hard labor, and was declared an habitual criminal William Grant, for horsq-stealing at Tologa Bay, was admitted to probtion. Henare Waite, for horse-stealing at. Tologa* Bay, was admitted to probation.

AN INVALID THIEF. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, George Alfred Tracey pleaded guilty to three charges of stealing carpenters' tools, and one of stealing carriage lamps. Counsel asked for leniency, as the prisoner had previously borne a good character. He is now in hospital, having undergone an operation. Mr. Justice Chapman said he did not think he would admit prisoner to probation. He would like to hear that restitution had been made, apart from the goods recovered. The case might be mentioned again on Monday. In the meantime the prisoner might,return to the hospital.
