There is a promising young cricketer down south. _ Hickmott, the seventeen-year-old Christ's College boy, who was given a place in the Canterbury representative team, completed his 1000 runs for the season in the Wellington-Can-terbury match. He has made seven centuries, and has an average of 83 runs per innings.
