In response to an invitation issued on January 8, the Board of Trade has received 80,000 applications for appointments in connection with labor exchanges and unemployment insurance. ESCAPE FROM A CRUISER. London, January 25. The cruiser Vigilant arrested an Ostend trawler in the prohibitive area of the Firth of Clyde. While both were anchored at Campbelltown the trawler slipped her anchor, extinguished her lights and escaped. A LABOR PAPER. London, January 25. At the Birmingham conference Mr. Mac Donald announced that a company was being formed with a capital of £150,000 to establish a daily Labor newspaper. Trades unions and others had promised £60,000. COLLISION AT HONOLULU. New York, January 25. The cruiser Colorado and the American liner Cleveland collided at Honolulu. The Cleveland was considerably damaged. Streets in Maidenhead have been submerged, hundreds of cottages isolated, and thousands of acres flooded.
