LONDON PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths & Co. are in receipt of-, the following- - market repott from their London 'principals, Messrs. Mills & Sparrow, dated December 15 1911:—• ' ■ " l • " BUTTER .MARKET. Imports during the last few weeks ha Ve increased somewhat',' although they ale still below last year. There is a great uncertainty, however, as to supplies in the future, the weather reports frbm Australia not being at all satisfactory. Danish is unchanged. There has been a good demand this week, and everything is practically cleared. Siberian.—There is nothing further to report. Arrivals are now so small that scarcely any attention is being paid to them. Australian.—The quantity to hdnd this' week has amounted to over 00,000 boxes by the s.s. Orsova, Argyleshire and Palma. The butters have come to hand in fine order, and the quality, with some exceptions, is very good. There has been an excellent trade, and prices have been fairly well maintained, with the exception of unsalted butter, the supply of which exceeds- the demand, and therefore does not command any premium over salted. There is also an excess of unsalted butter, with preservative, on the market, the quality of most of it being very indifferent; it is exceedingly difficult to clear this class of goods, there being practically no Continental demand, and it is entirely unsuitable for the English market. iSalted seconds seem fn short supply, and "make within a few shillings of the best.
Xew Zealand.—The s.s. lonic was due to dock to-day. hut news now reaches us that she has had to call at Lisbon for coal, and we have not heard, so far whether she lias left. At anyrate it looks as if she will be a few days late, and it is now very uncertain whether this butter will be available for the Christinas trade. Argentine has met with a good demand at slightlv reduced rates CFJEESE. Trade has been quiet. Canadian bein<* in very small supply, and New Zealand is practically cleared, so there should be a good demand for the s.s. lonic's cargo.
