REBELLION AT TIMOR.
NATIVES ATTACK EUROPEANS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright., Sydney, Anuary 25. From Thursday Island the steamer Empire, from Timor, reports a native rebellion. Eight Portuguese residents were killed in the fighting, which pro-, ceeded for over a week. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The Empire brought an official message for transmission to Macao, asking for the assistance of three hundred | troops and a cruiser.
Half the island of Timor belongs to Portugal and half to Holland.
