Mr. Crawford, who for 23 years was a missionary, gives farrowing details of the slave trade in Angola. Mr. Crawford was for several years a prisoner of Mushidi, who was nicknamed "the colored Napoleon." Mushdi had 500 wives, including one white woman. He conquered many tribes, and there were executions daily of batches of men and children. The Belgians finally shot Mushdi.
