THE TIMES' REVIEW.
AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND. By Cable—Press Association —Cepyright. Received 22, 9.35 p.m. London, January 22. The Times' annual review says that the Commonwealth fared well during the past year, but less well than in the two previous years. While admitting that the Government's loari expenditure was justifiable, some of the expenditure ought not to be incurred. The. increase in the burden of taxation was severe, and there had been no call for the proposed banking legislation. Discussing New Zealand, the review says the Dominion continues to be fairly prosperous, though, owing to increased indebtedness and industrial unrest, the position is less favorable than in 1910.
