At a banquet in connection with the National German Fete, Dr. Kottomann stated that it was the impression of some people that the British and German nations were unfriendly. Qn the contrary the feeling between the two peoples was most amicable. Many published , statements were misunderstood. Some German leaders had decided views and these views were enormously exaggerated. The papers, by the time that they reached Australia, frequently bore false complexion.

Received 22, 1.1.20 p.m. London, January 22. The Saturday Review declares that Sir E. Grey privately intimated that Britain would opposed Germany acquiring the Angola Country, West Africa, which Portugal is about to offer to German enterprise for a valuable consideration.
