MOA ROAD BOARD.

_ MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Moa Road Board was held at the Board's office, Inglewood, on Saturday, when there were present: Messrs. H. Trimble (chairman), Anderson, Bridgeman, Chard, Collingwood, Corkill, Lawrence, R. T. Williams, and J. Williams. In the afternoon, during the absence of the chairman at the funeral of < Mrs. Tarplee, wife of Cr. Tarplee, of the Inglewood Borough Council, Mr. Bridgeman presided. EVERETT ROAD. Messrs. S. A. Bishop, & Rundle and J. Wallace drew attention to the state of the Everett road, which was in an "untrafficable" state. They asked that portion of the road should be gravelled. They intended raising a loan for this purpose, and would petition the Government to help them. They wanted something done before the winter. The Board decided to obtain estimates of cost to place before settlers. ENGINEER'S REPORT. Mr. S. Orbell, engineer, reported as follows: Upland Road North.—Nearly the whole of the foundation, including both deviations, was now completed, and about 1000 yards of boulders had been carted to the crusher site near the Upland road. Bristol Road Bridge.—The approaches had been completed, and the road was now metalled over the bridge and about two chains beyond. He had inspected the Ngatoro river where it crosed Bedford road, and considered the encroachment was dangerous to the bridge. He sugeated that the timber in the centre of the river-bed should be used to turn the water.—Tenders would close at the meeting for the contract for the culvert at Ratapiko. The foreman was instructed to attend to the Ngatoro river on Bedford road, as recommended by the engineer. FOREMEN'S REPORTS. The foremen's reports were adopted as follows: Foreman Stachurski reported that he had spread 86 yards of metal on Lepper road north of Hursthouse; repaired Upland north road and bridge, also bridge on Bedford north. He had also repaired a wash-out on the Windsor road. Some' pipes were required on the Windsor and Dudley roads. Work was required on the Egmont north, Lepper north, Hursthouse and Dudley west roads. He also required a dray for a day. Some trees overhanging the Hursthouse road required trimming. A settler had cut blackberry and blocked a water-table. Twenty yards of metal were required 1 on Hursthouse road. The request for cart was granted. The settlers concerned are to be requested to trim tr*es and remove blackberry. Foreman Knofflock reported that Bishop had delivered 100 yards of metal » on the Kaimata north road, and had put four chain of metal on the Bristol west road. He could do with 200 yards of metal extra on the Kaimata north road, as it was in a bad state. Work was required on the Kaimata.north, Everett Lincoln and Davis roads. ' Foreman Bennett had been engaged on the Kaimata south, Mangaotea, Ratapiko, Mana and Kupara roads. Work was needed on the Salisbury, Kupara Kaimata south and Ratapiko north roads. ; Foreman Jones had been working at ' patching, water-tabling, raking loose stone, etc., on Durham east, Norfolk east, ■ Norfolk west roads. No stone was left for repairs on Rugby and Norfolk east roads. A. Laurence had his con.tracts on the Durham east, Johns and - Surrey roads., L, .Bishop had got 160 yards of stone out of 300 yards on the ' 2 ffL S m ? ad - Mr ' J - Mischeski asked the Board to keep back 6d per yard royalty on 99 yards of stone taken by . a contractor from his .place. r • TENDERS. The clerk presented his monthly state- , ment, which showed receipts to have been £426 8s 5d (rates £417 6s), and , expenditure £l6B Ik 2d (general) and . £285; 1.7s 6d (loan). The credit balances were now £921 6s 2d (general) and . £1436 18s 10 (loan). RATAPIKO ROAD. . Nineteen settlers on the Ratapiko road petitioned the Board to raise a loan of £l5O for the purpose of replacing a wooden culvert (which was rotten) on the Ratapiko road with a concrete cul- [ vert > DAVIS ROAD. The clerk of the Waitara West Road f Board intimated, that-the chairman and - one member of the Board would wait on the Moa Road Board at 2 p.nvon Saturday to arrange re maintenance of the n*/ 13 -AaHwdfogly, the chairman (Mr. J. Connett) and Messrs. French and Fussell (clerk) waited on the Board, and the matter was discussed in commitMANGANUI BRIDGE.
