FIRE ON THE SUEVIC.

'BOAT AND CARGO SERIOUSLY DAMAGED. By Cable —Press AsM«atim—fopyriftt Melbourne, January 20. The fire on the Suevic started in five hundred tons of copra and tallow in the lower hold on Thursday night. Several hours' fighting the lire was supposed to have checked it, but it again broke out on the vessel's arrival at the wharf. A tug, equipped with fire-fighting apparatus, tackled the outbreak, and continued pouring water in. Last night it was reported that the fire had been got under control. The steamer and valuable cargo is seriously damaged, but the amount is not stated.

ALL THE WATER PUMPED OUT. * Received 22, 1 a.m. Melbourne, Januarv 21. The Suevic is at the wharf. All the water is pumped out and the damaged copra removed.
