Investigations show that Sister Candide, who has been under bail since 1910, collected at least £1,000,000 between 1889 and 1910, whereof £BOO,OOO was legitimately spent. The present liabilities are ££Bo,ooo, and the assets £120,000. Sister Candide bought on credit and sold immediately at greatly reduced prices over £200,000 worth of jewels.
