FRAUDS ON EMIGRANTS.
AN AGENT ARRESTED. By Cabk—Prea# Aoc—inti— 4kfjrigti. Received 20, 1 a.m. London, January 19. G. H. Brown, an emigration agent, was arrested at Nelson, Lancashire, on December 28 on a charge of having obtained money on false pretences in connection with forged testimonials for a farm laborer emigrating to Australia. The Agents-General co-operated in the prosecution. A high Canadian emigration authority, interviewed by the Pall Mall Gazette, stated that the number of unscrupulous agents 'had enormously increased, and a series of prosecutions are' proceeding. Brown has now been remanded, and thb Magistrate at Nelson will hear the ease on the 30th inst. There are thirty witnessea.
