AUSTRALIAN ARRANGEMENTS.

In connection with the American mail service, arrangements have been completed by the Union, Canadian and Australian lines for fortnightly sailings of steamers to and from San Francisco. The time table iB so arranged that sailing will be uniformly regular. To secure this the Maitai, advertised to sail on Inarch 13, is replaced by the Manuka, sailing on March 22. THE 'FRISCO BOATS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. The Herald's San Francisco correspondent states that, as the result of an interview between Mr. Taft and the Oceanic representative, it is announced that the United States Government will pay a mail subsidy of two dollars a mile to a line to carry mails from San Francisco to New Zealand and Australia, via Honolulu and Pago Pago. This ensures the resumption of the 'Frisco service by the Ventura and Sonoma, which will be refitted as oilburners. It is expected the vessels will be ready in June.
