FESTIVAL OF EMPIRE: MEETING OF COMMITTEE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Festival of Empire committee met this evening. The financial statement of the treasurer of the Australasian team showed a credit balance as far as New Zealand is concerned of £9 2s 9d. A communication from R. Opie in regard to extra expense* was considered in committee. It was decided that he .be advised that the committee could not recognise any but medical expenses. The balance-sheet showed that, including the Government subsidy, the money collected totalled £497 13s Id. Of this amount a credit balance of £52 16s 7d remained. ' i

The chairman stated that it would be necessary to hold one more meeeting in order to adopt the report and consider how the balance should be disposed of. Mr. C. D. Morpeth was appointed auditor. Mr. B. A. Guise (hon. secretary) was voted' an honorarium of fifteen guineas.

The chairman and secretary were deputed to draw up a report covering the activities of the committee since its inception. It was decided that the chairman .be presented with a framed photograph of the members of the committee as a mark of appreciation of his services.
