Two thousand Catholics marched into Outerio, and in a fierce fight five persons were killed and forty seriously wounded. The cavalry and infantry have been re-established by order of Parliament. The press is favorable to the Government's Bill legalising gambling and the opening of luxurious casinos in the chief towns, and granting licenses to the highest bidders.

A British syndicate, with a capital of a million pounds, has offered to build casinos in Lisbon and Cintra similar to that at Monte Carlo.
