A hastily summoned meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association's committee was held to-day, when a letteT was read from the Wellington Cricket Association, covering a challenge to play for the Plunket Shield on January 26th and following days. It was at first thought that the match with Auckland, which is to be played on February 9, should take precedence, but after mature consideration, and having regard to the rules governing Plunket Shield matches, it was decided to accept the challenge for the dates suggested. DIVIDING THE SPOIL. Received 12, 0.5 a.m. Sydney, January 11. The receipts of the first test match were £4255, whereof the; Englishmen took £l4lO. The Cricket Association's profits are £lßl9.
