"THE GATE OF LIFE."
REMARKABLE CEREMONIAL IN A CHURCH. By Cable— Press Association —Copyright. London, January 10. Desiring to enforce the adage, "Death is the gate of life," at St. Michael's Church, Stockton, Warwickshire, Archdeacon Colley entered a glass-covered coffin and was carried around the aisles. He returned to the chancel and, raising the cover, pronounced the benediction and closed the service. Some of the congregation sobbed, others were shocked and departed. WHY HE DID IT. Received 12, 12.45 a.m. London, January 11. Archdeacon Colley's explanation is that he wished to rehearse a scheme which he would like, to occur when he was dead, before his remains are sent to the medical faculty of Birmingham University for dissection. His will directs that his bones be wired together and be placed in the Psychic Museum at Leamington.
