A fire broke out in a nine-roomed boarding-house in Arthur street, Ponsonby, owned and occupied by Alexander Coutts, last night. Tour rooms were gutted, and the remainder much damaged. The house a;nd contents were insured for £SOO. OUTBREAK AT PETONE. Wellingiton, Monday. A fire at Petone yesterday destroyed Pointon's cycle shop. He was engaged in repairing a v motor cycle, when the engine exploded, and the /place burst into flames. Damage was also done to adjoining shops by smoke and water." The place was lined with asbestos, or the whole block to which the shop belonged would have been destroyed. HOUSE BURNED AT MANAKAU.,, Levin, Monday. A house at Manakau, occupied by J. W. Bolton, was completely destroyed, with the contents, this morning. The insurance on the house was £350 in the State Office. It has not been ascer-1 tained whether the furniture was- insured. | ACCOMMODATION HOUSE BURNED, j Gisborwe, Monday. | The Ngatapa accommodation house, of ten rooms, occupied by Greaves, was de-' stroyed by Are, the inmates having a narrow escape. The insurances are not available. ACCOMMODATION HOUSE DESTROYED. Gisborne, Last Night. The accommodation house on Ngatapa estate, recently cut up by the Government, was destroyed by fire on Thursday. The insurance on the furniture was £IOO and the building is believed to be uninsured.
