The six days cycling race finished at 10 o'clock last night in the presence of a big and enthusiastic crowd. During the concluding hours many brilliant spurts were made :by the back men to make up lost ground, and by the leaders to gain any advantage, eo the positions altered little. I Entering the last lap, Lawson (AmerI ican), with Goullet (Victorian) in close I attendance, was leading, Grenda (Tasmania) and MacNamara (New South Wales) following. There was a great struggle. Goullet passed Lawson and, finishing fast, won by a couple of lengths from Grenda, with MacNamara third, Lawson fourth, and Kirkham (New South Wales) fifth. Ten teams finished. Goullet and his mate, Heir, won £SOO, Grenda and Walker £2OO, Macnamara and Corry £IOO, Lawson and Mitten £75, and the fifth team £SO. The total distance covered was 2085 miles. All finished strong, and apparently little the worse for their strenuous efforts. j Received 8, 12.5 a.m. ! Sydney, January 7. Fifty-four thousand people witnessed the finish of the six days' cycling race, j Lane is still in the hospital, but there Jis a slight improvement.
