— t I • CHKISTCHURCH WOOL SALES. By Telegra-ph-r—Press Association. Christchurch, Last The third wool sale of this season's series was held to-day before a very large attendance of buyers, representing all sections of ,tlie trade.' There were lo;102 bales catalogued, a falling off of 4000 bales as compared with the January sale of last year. This shortage was due to the wet weather, delaying shearing during last month. The wool was not in quiet- such good condition as a month ago, the rain having taken a lot of the brightness out of it, and a good many lots showed signs of dampness. There was again exceptionally brisk competition, esp'ecially between Continental and Home sections of the trade. American buyers were not "so much in evidence as at the previous sale. Dunedin woollen mills and local fellmongers'purchased a fair quantity as compared with previous sale. ' Fine and medium half-breds were firmer by a farthing to a halfpenny per lb, and medium pieces also, sold better. There was a better selection of merinos offered than at previous sale, and they sold well. All other classes ■• of wool were fully equal in values to those ruling at sale, and the number of lots pased in was again comparatively small.
